Principal’s Message

Kia ora and welcome to Campbells Bay School

Since opening in 1925 our decile ten school has a student roll of between 900-1000. The school caters for students between the ages of 5-11 who live within the school’s enrolment zone*. Set in park-like grounds the school has many purposeful-built facilities to provide for the needs of our students. Our greatest asset is our people and this includes passionate and committed staff alongside a supportive and engaged community.

My name is Rachael Taylor, Principal of Campbells Bay School. It truly is an honour to follow in the footsteps of John McGowan, previous Principal with over 25 years of outstanding service to our learning community. I am excited to build on the success of this past, use it to inform the present and make sure that the future is just as aspirational, relevant and responsive.

My aim is to ensure that our focus is always on what is most important, our students. Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia o tātou mahi – let the uniqueness of the child guide the work. Our school vision is to grow learners for life. Learners for life are effective communicators, thinkers, self-managers, and citizens who strive for excellence. Our actions are designed to ensure the ambition of growing learners for life is a day to day reality for our students. In this context, the school’s governing body, the Board of Trustees, provides for the overall direction of the school through policy setting and strategic planning and, in consultation with the senior leadership of the school, sets achievement targets.

*To avoid overcrowding the school has an enrolment scheme that is strictly enforced.
