Opening of our New Classroom Block – Update and Invite

We are excited that we are preparing for the opening of our kura’s new 14 classroom block.

CPU has been delayed until Friday 14 April. This is due to a Watercare hold up. The build team is confident that CPU will be issued on this day. This means we have scheduled a blessing on Monday 24 April at 7am. Note this is the morning of our Teacher Only Day.

Te Kawerau a Maki, mana whenua of CBS are leading the tikanga for this event. The blessing will start at 7am sharp and kai will follow. For catering purposes please RSVP to the google form below.

Should the CPU be delayed, you will be notified of a change to this event via email and on the wesbite.

If you would like to attend the blessing ceremony, please RSVP using the google form link here.

Another Amazing Result

I would like to thank everyone who has helped support this event and all those who participated. We have had an outstanding response and achieved Top School for the most entries and Top School for percentage of school entered. We are privileged to have such a supportive staff at Campbells Bay School and community who are willing to back the school and be a part of this great event, again I have been amazed at how many families have registered.

Total entries: 441 including 17 teachers and staff.

This year produced another fantastic event, the sun was shining, the event ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed the run/walk, especially the sausage sizzle waiting for the children at the finish line. I would also like to thank Kris Cunningham and his team from Harcourts Cooper and Co, Milford who sponsored and ran the sausage sizzle, also Mrs Meder and Mrs Whitaker who were there to greet everyone and hand out the sausages for our school.

The next step from here is the school will put forward a grant application for P.E. and sports equipment for the school. I hope everyone enjoyed their morning as much as I did and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Thank You for your support

Rob Padgett

Harmony Week

What a great week! Thank you for all your support and for sharing how special each and every one of our whānau are!

Eskdale School Fundraiser

Campbells Bay School has raised over $5,000 for Eskdale School. The actual figure will be released soon as we have some Campbells Bay community groups that have requested to be involved and are contributing to this cause. Amazing achievement! Thank-you to all who have contributed to our three events. We will keep you posted of the pictures and recounts we get from the school upon receiving the funds. We will also let you know how they have been spent. This is a truly incredible achievement, thank you for all that got involved and contributed, thank you for all your donations!

Easter Egg Request

With Easter just over 2 weeks away, I am kindly asking for your support to help gift a child at De Paul House, an Easter egg or bunny. They currently have 100 children residing with us and wish to provide a special Easter to our whānau this year!
Times are increasingly tough, especially when purchasing food. Any small items would be greatly appreciated- whether it be small chocolate eggs for an Easter egg hunt or some little lollies. By making a donation, you are creating a special memory for families, putting a big smile on a child’s face and relieving the potential financial stress of a parent.
I can collect from you, please email me on: [email protected] or you can drop into the school office.
Ngā mihi nui,
Cassie

Lost Property

Our lost property bins in Room 22 (adjacent to the Hall) are almost full (with lots of swimming gear too). Please come and have a look if your child is missing any item. These bins will be cleared out at the end of the term.

EZ LUNCH – School Lunches

Just a friendly reminder, if you are ordering your child a school lunch, that you please make sure you are ordering for the correct day. We have had many cases of children recently thinking that they have a lunch order but don’t actually have one, leaving the child hungry and for the parents to come and bring in some lunch. If there is an issue with school lunches please phone: Ez Lunch on 869-5200. Many thanks.

Second Hand Uniform Sales will Pause in Term 2

‘Hello!! There is only two more opportunities to buy second hand uniform until August this year!! The shop is open on Monday the 27th of March and Monday the 3rd of April.

Due to the temporary closing of the second hand uniform next term, there is very little storage space available. Some clothes are unable to be sold. If this applies to some of your clothing, you will be contacted. This will be available for collection from the school office, between now and the end of term, after this they will be disposed of. Please do not bring your uniform in to sell until the Uniform shop re-opens. Thank you for your help and understanding with this!!’

Tennis

On Monday 13 March, our CBS tennis team competed in the Super Cluster Tennis Tournament. The tournament was played at the Campbells Bay Tennis Club courts. Seven local primary schools attended this event, and each school could enter a team of four girls and four boys.

There were two competitions on the day, a singles competition, and a doubles competition. Two boys and two girls from each school entered the singles competition and two boys and two girls played in the doubles competition.

All our tennis players gave of their best in all their matches and there was some very good determination and tennis on display. Both our girls’ and boys’ teams played exceptionally well, and we ended the day with some outstanding results. CBS took out the title for the boys’ singles and boys’ doubles and placed third in both the boys’ and girls’ singles competitions.

It was a very close competition in the overall top school championship. Our team’s combined hard work and team effort earned us the Top School Award! Congratulations to all our players for their efforts on the day!

A special mention to Quinn W, Tayla F, Scott P and Nathan S who stepped up and helped out Browns Bay and St John’s Schools at the tournament. These schools needed extra players to be able to enter a full team and these students happily helped them out. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us on the day.
