Gumboot Friday Reflection
Thank YOU to those who had a throw of the gumboot last week and those parents who helped set this up. We had a great turn out each day, which supported the messaging around this important fundraiser. Thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who made our Gumboot Throwing mornings possible. There was much laughter and fun had by many and even the rain didn’t deter on Friday.
On Friday 4 November our tamariki and kaiako wore their gumboots to school for a gold coin donation. We are always so blown away by the generosity of our CBS community and on this occasion it was the same. You raised $945. This is a true reflection of our school motto. Thank you for your amazing support. Our donations will go to Gumboot Friday who help children receive free and timely counselling.
Travel Wise Challenge – Wheels Day on Friday
The weather is getting better as we approach summer, which makes it the perfect time to try out some more active modes of transport to get you to and from school each day.
A reminder that this coming Friday 11th November, we will be holding a Wheels Day to kickstart our two week Travelwise Challenge.
For the following two weeks (14th-25th November), your challenge is to arrive at school using an active mode of transport as many days as you can. Some examples include:
- Walking
- Cycling
- Public transport
Live far away? Why don’t you park a bit further away and walk?
The class with the most students arriving using active transport will win a popcorn and movie afternoon for their class! I’m looking out for a junior, middle and senior school winner.
There will also be spot prizes handed out throughout the two weeks.
This could be the perfect opportunity to try out one of our Walking School Buses. More information can be found here.
CBS Community Invite – Coffee Mornings next week
We would really love to see as many of you as we can at school before the school year ends. Our classroom doors are always open for our lovely parents to pop in and see what we are learning between 8:30am and 8:55am. To get back into pre-Covid times, we thought we would entice you back into classes by bringing coffee into the school!

Thank You Morning Tea – Save the Date
You are invited to a special morning tea in the Performing Arts room at 10am on Tuesday 6 December. This invite is extended to all those parents who have volunteered at CBS in 2022. Pop this event in your calendar. We look forward to seeing you there!
School Photos – A message from Photo Life
You have been emailed a unique Key Code to go online to view and purchase 2022 School Photos including the team photos.
***FREE DELIVERY EXPIRES Midnight Sunday 13th NOVEMBER ***
WHY IS PHOTOLIFE EMAILING KEYCODES THIS YEAR?
Easier and more efficient for Parents – “Hi PhotoLife, Thank you for the email. I have missed out on previous school photos due to not receiving the order form in previous years, but this was a seamless and much easier process, it was amazing!”
Free Delivery Expiry Date is highlighted in the email. No administration needed by School Office or Teachers in handing out codes. Emails sent by a “real person” so any queries emailed back from parents are resolved quickly by PhotoLife. 100% more environmentally friendly – minimising paper; printing inks and printing process. This year a higher number of students were absent so this system does ensure the Key Code gets to the parents regardless
