Principals Message
Kia ora koutou katoa,
I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather yesterday.
On Friday, we farewelled Charlotte Borowski as she started her parental leave. We wait with anticipation and excitement for the arrival of her second child. A very warm welcome to Laura Muller a fantastic teacher who we have been lucky enough to recruit for this class.
I have been impressed with the uptake of mask wearing across the school. Thank you for your ongoing support. The Secretary of Education has updated schools about the ongoing requirement of face masks for students and staff in years four to six. Whilst no longer required, face masks are, “strongly recommended by public health officials that face masks are worn by students and staff in Year 4 to 13 when indoors, including combined classes when learning and during indoor assemblies.” 16 August | Hereturikōkā 2022
In summary:
- Staff in year 4 to 6 will continue to wear a face mask indoors when it is practical to do so.
- Students in years 4 to 6 are strongly recommended to continue with their current mask wearing practices.
- Students of all ages across the school are encouraged to wear a mask should they choose to.
- Face masks for visitors to the school is encouraged.

COVID-19 Update
Since the last newsletter CBS has had three students positive with COVID-19.
Well-A-Thon Update $21,497.00!

A MASSIVE shout-out to those families who have collected donations. A phenomenal $21,497 already.
In a time where our international student revenue has been placed on pause due to closed international borders over the past two years. This funding will be put to good use! Resourcing parts of the school beyond the scope of the Ministry of Education, things that make CBS special. This includes resourcing technology to access the digital curriculum, specialist teachers for music, art, sport, additional teacher aide hours and even the upkeep of the community forest. The list could go on. Thank you so much for your support of the school.

Vote for our Local Hero! A message from Make-A-Wish New Zealand
Westfield Local Heroes are nominated and voted for by their communities. The finalist with the most community votes will become the Westfield Local Hero for 2022, receiving a $20,000 grant for the organisation they represent.
This year we are excited to announce our superstar Wish Volunteer – Rod Cox, a wonderful parent of Campbells Bay School, who will represent Make-A-Wish as the finalist of the Westfield Local Heroes – Albany, and we need your VOTE.
Remember voting finishes TODAY, let’s get our votes in by by clicking here.
More about Rod……
Many of you may know Rod however for those that don’t. Rod is a humble man with a huge heart who brings joy to critically ill children and their families through his tireless dedication to Make-A-Wish New Zealand. Nothing is too much trouble for Rod, who has delivered 37 bespoke wishes and thrives on supporting local families in their time of need. Rod has also been an active fundraiser and leads an amazing golf day raising much-needed funds.
“A wish has the power to transform a child’s life and create lifelong memories. It can give them respite from the seemingly never-ending medical procedures, hospital stays, and medical jargon, allowing them to be a child again!” Rod says.
If Rod is successful, all funds will go to Make-A-Wish to support more children and their families and give them a light of hope.
So, please VOTE for Rod!
Every vote counts, so please also share with your family, friends, and community by 22nd August.
Thank you for your support!

Year Two Winter Netball Success!
We had two year two winter netball teams participating in the FutureFerns programme and league at Netball North Harbour on a Monday afternoon during terms two and three. All our players can be congratulated on the outstanding effort they put into their skills training and games. They went from never having played netball before to outstanding passing, catching and shooting goals! Our wonderful parent coaches and managers have reported back that it was very impressive to watch and special to be part of it. Well done to all our year students who played in the CBS Blueferns (Amelia B, Nora C, Shiloh B, Tylor M-G, Alice K, Ida F and Alexandra M) and CBS Cubs (Kenzie M, Ivy B, Gemma W, Danielle T, Ava C, Tayla F and Peyton V N ) teams. Thank you to Tori Burns, Min Meder, Di Burnett and Sandra Fitzpatrick, our volunteer managers and coaches. Our students couldn’t have these sorts of opportunities without your help.

Student Success!
