Principals Message

Kia ora koutou katoa,

As promised in today’s newsletter, you will find the link to our annual School Community Survey – https://forms.gle/ba5Ak6uZkyNkXUqx6.

A reminder will be put in each newsletter until our closing date, 1 September. This particular survey has been in place for a number of years now, which allows us to compare data trends and focus on and track specific areas of improvement. It was collaboratively developed alongside Educational Consult Jo Robson from Leading Learning. Last year it included questions around the Health Curriculum, which we are required to do every second year. This year it should only take you ten minutes to complete.  Thank you in advance for taking the time. Your voice is important to us, and the information gathered is critical for our ongoing evaluation processes and implementation of school improvement actions.

A big thank you to Rooms 4 and 5 who relocated for our delayed joinery project. The windows and aluminium joinery is installed and looking great, they will be able to move back in soon. Rooms 11 and 12 are next and information will come to those classes when the time comes.

Exciting news is that the leadership team will be able to walk inside our new build, with hard hats! The spaces and classrooms are coming together now, in record time. This build is still on track and scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2022.

Last week the school was a hive of activity with students filling up each other’s buckets and putting into action our Well-A-Thon tasks.
Even the leadership
meeting started with a wellness focus on the five key areas of wellbeing and how we can look after our teams. Teachers arranged lunchtime yoga, running clubs, a joke stall, and nature walks have all been on offer for students throughout the week and these will continue this week too. Thank you in advance for your support with the main annual fundraiser for our school.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

COVID-19 Update

Board Elections 2022 – Voting is now open!

Thank you to the nine candidates that submitted their interest in becoming a parent trustee on the school board. A voting paper is being posted to every eligible voter today, along with a candidate statement to help you with your voting decision.

Please note that you can vote for up to FIVE candidates.  Once completed, the voting paper needs to be returned in the enclosed return envelope and either posted or delivered to the school office by the deadline of Wednesday 7 September 2022.  (Please allow enough time for your vote to be received if you decide to post, as NZ Post can take a week to deliver.)

If you have any questions about this, please email the returning officer on the following email address: [email protected]

Acknowledging Service in Action

Hiram (Year 2) has been thinking of helping children the of Ukraine but he couldn’t help them with goods. So his parents gave him some ideas to help others in a practical way. Hiram decided to collect donations at his birthday party instead of presents. Last Friday, he dropped off his donations to Auckland City Mission. The staff at Auckland City Mission warmly welcomed and appreciated his gentle kindness and Hiram told them he will come back again.

“We really appreciate that CBS teaches students how to show and express their services and caring minds in Community as like school value.” Hiram’s family

Well done Hiram for your throughtfulness, and kindess in action!
