Principals Message

Kia ora koutou katoa,

It was fantastic to see some sunshine this weekend followed by today. The school grounds certainly will benefit from a few dry days. The school has been a buzz with learning since the start of the term. Great to see the launch of new inquiries with exciting experiences for our students, such as Science in a Van and Pform. Congratulations to those junior students who have been celebrating their first 100 days at school with a class party. How exciting!

Next week in the newsletter will be a link to a Community Engagement Survey. This survey replicates the survey we have had for the past few years and helps us to capture feedback from you about Campbells Bay School. It informs the strategic goals of the school and captures trends and data, particularly useful for us to ensure we can keep on improving and responding to the changing needs of our school community. Keep an eye out for it.

Our Kahui Ako, made up of local primary schools, Murrays Bay Intermediate and Rangitoto College, work closely together on goals across our communities and schools. One area that continues to require our focus, is the digital world our children are growing up in. An event has been organised by our Kahui Ako, held at Rangitoto College and open for all parents, it is a must see. Please find further down in this newsletter the advertisement for the Kāhui Ako Cyber Safety Evening that will be held at Rangitoto College Auditorium on 29th September (7pm-9pm). Tickets are $10. Available from midbays.com
Guest speaker, Rob Cope and will cover topics:

  • Understanding the harms our kids are facing online in relation to pornography, predators, social media access, and the 24/7 switched on effect on the developing brain.
  • Learning practical solutions to keep your children safer online.
  • Getting advice on healthy ways to approach these tricky topics.
  • Learning what to do when your child has been exposed to something harmful.
  • This talk also includes an online safety plan tailored to suit your family’s needs.
Tomorrow is the final evening for Next Step Interviews. Please note students in years 3 to 6 will be released for the day from the same locations as last Thursday.
Year 0-2 –
