Coming Up

Welcome

Welcome to new students Emily, Samuel, Zachary, Karen, Anahera, Hechu and Helin

Principal Message

Kia ora koutou katoa,

Welcome back to Term Three! Children were certainly blown into school today. The mark of a wet and windy start to term. I hope you all had a lovely term break together and students are ready to launch back into their learning.

A big welcome to new students and their families starting today across the school and also to Melissa Grant our new Deputy Principal (leader of Team 5/6) and Lauren Hall our new teacher in Room 14. Welcome back also to Emily van Niekirk, teacher in Room 27. We have been very lucky to attract such outstanding staff, who join our team this term.

We have Next Step Interviews on Thursday 28 July and Tuesday 2 August after school. Students will be released from different parts of the school on these afternoons. This Thursday students in:
Year 5 and 6 will be released from the school hall
Year 3 will be released from the PA room
Year 4 will be released from NE Central (Rooms 30-38)
Year 0-2 from their own classrooms.

With the wild weather in the first week of the holidays our joinery project incurred more delays. Rooms 4-6 are scheduled to be completed by the end of this week and Rooms 11 and 12 are scheduled to be completed next week. More information on these timelines will be sent to those classes that are impacted.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Factathon

This week we are excited to be launching our WELL-A-thon fundraiser and it starts this Friday 29 July!  Our focus is on student and whanau wellbeing and learning fun health & PE facts for our quiz.

On Friday your child(ren) will bring home a letter explaining how this fundraiser works, the dates and most importantly, how to make a fundraising profile for your child(ren).  After the success of last year, we have partnered again with “Raise It”.

We will have some great fundraising spot prizes up for grabs through our WELL-A-thon too!

Thanks in advance for all your support!
Sarah Whitaker (commmunity engagement leader).

Student Request

One of our students, Xavier and his friend has entered the Solve for Tomorrow Samsung competition and their topic is ‘biking to school’.

They have created a survey trying to learn more about biking to school. The aim is to get more children biking to school.
They have requested that their survey is posted in the newsletter, to help them with their competition, if you have time to complete this they would be most appreciative! Here is the link below.

Uniform Sale

Second hand uniform sale will not be held this week due to the joinery project delays. Watch this space for times in next weeks newsletter.

Changes to Kindo

Kindo and ezlunch was built to support families so it is important to us to give you advance notice of a change that could affect how you use myKindo.

The Growth Collective Limited (known as Kindo, myKindo and ezlunch) has recently been classified as a Financial Service Provider. This means that there are additional responsibilities we must undertake, including compliance with the strict regulations imposed under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act (AML).

We have negotiated exemptions, which are awaiting approval, however one issue was around the cash withdrawal of account balances. We expect to publish updated Account Holder Terms on or around 31 July 2022 to cover the new arrangements. In summary:

  • If you have received a refund from your school or registered charity, e.g. in relation to a cancelled event, you can withdraw that value to your bank account using the myKindo facility at any time within 12 months of the refund.
  • Otherwise, cash withdrawals will no longer be available, including when you are closing your account.
  • Credit balances may be spent, or you have the option of donating to your school or a registered charity, without undergoing AML due diligence checks.
  • When topping up your myKindo account, please take care to top up only the amount you will be able to use during the time you have a myKindo account.

There will be a transition period as we change the withdrawal facility to respect these new arrangements. You can expect access to the current withdrawal facility until the new Terms are published.

Thank you for your understanding as we take on these new responsibilities. If you need any assistance, please get in touch with [email protected].

Board Elections

Nominate yourself or someone you know to be a CBS school board member.

All eligible voters will have received an emailed nomination form during the holidays. If you didn’t receive one, or have any questions, please email the Returning Officer: [email protected]

Nominations close at noon on 3 August 2022 and we are looking for five parent representatives for a new three year term.

Please ensure all completed nomination forms, candidate statements and photos (if desired) are received by the deadline.
