Coming Up
Welcome to the following students who have started at Campbells Bay…
James and Charlotte!
Year 5 Camp MERC
On the last week of Term 1, the Year 5 students spent two action-packed days at the Marine Education Recreation Centre (MERC) in Long Bay. With the guidance of experienced instructors, they took part in a series of activities including surfing, rock-climbing, outdoor survival skills, archery, and the giants’ ladder. The students showed the CBS values by pushing themselves to try things outside their comfort zone, cheering their friends along when things got hard, and listening to the instructors. It was a superb learning experience and a wonderful way to finish off a great term.

Pink Shirt Day
Thank you for your support of Pink Shirt Day last week. It was such an important day to recognise and promote our staff and students to Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!
Bullying in Aotearoa is a problem. We have the third-highest rate of bullying in NZ schools out of 36 OECD countries and one in 10 workers feels discriminated against or bullied at work. Those bullied are far more likely to experience mental health issues. Pink Shirt Day works to reduce bullying by celebrating diversity in all its forms and supporting schools, workplaces and communities to be safe, supportive, welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
Our students can only learn how to prevent bullying by being able to observe or notice it, speak up about it, and feel safe to do so. Students last week learned about being an ‘up’ stander and also about what they can do to get support from an adult. Our school values support us to share a common language of behaviours we value and stand by at CBS. Respect, resilience and kindness. There is no place for bullying at our school.
