Principal’s Message

Kia ora koutou,

I hope this newsletter finds you well. Our year six campers last week managed to get away with wonderful weather (albeit chilly) and have a fantastic EOTC experience at Carey Park. A big thank you to our teachers, in particular Fred Nu’u for organising and leading such a fantastic experience for our students. And also another thank you to our amazing parent help! Expect to see student recounts and action photos in next weeks newsletter.

Since our newsletter last week, we have had 37 students with COVID-19. Please keep informing the school if your child tests positve or is isolating. Email [email protected], call us or use the app. We also request that you continue to keep your children home from school if they are presenting unwell even if they are testing negative for COVID-19 there are a number of other winter bugs and chills around this season.

Year six road patrollers are being trained by Constable Murray Fenton this week. It will be great to have them back in action with the lollipops along the crossing. We have had some congestion in the morning and afternoon. We ask that you are patient, school drop off and pick up is always a busy time in every area. If you can get your children walking, scootering or biking to school even better! And if you are using the bus bay, make sure your children are able to exit the car independently and are organised and ready to go.

This week is also our office manager, Cushla Dyson’s final week of school. Cushla has been with CBS for 14 years. A true icon in the office! Many students, parents and staff members have been supported by her over the years. She has so much knowledge, work ethic and amazing relationships with us all. She will be very much missed! Make sure you pop by the office to say farewell and bon voyage before she heads to the United Kingdom.

I will end with some wonderful news. Mrs Allieschen Crafford has had her baby boy on Wednesday, Lian Martin Crafford. They are currently soaking up all the newborn cuddles. Congratulations!

Have a great week ahead!

Congratulations to Xavier Wasek-Webb

Over the weekend Xavier competed in the New Zealand lead climbing nationals and placed second in his age group. This is a huge achievement considering that Xavier has only just fully recovered from surgery on his ankle last year. This result also means that Xavier will be selected for the New Zealand Youth Development Squad. Xavier wanted to acknowledge the support he has received over the past few months while he has recovered. This is support from his coach Zane and the climbing community from Extreme Edge, Northern Rocks and Boulder Co gyms.

Xavier, all of us at CBS are so super proud of your achievements. Congratulations!
