Message from the Principal
Kia ora koutou katoa,
There are lots of reminders and information in today’s newsletter so I will not take up much space. This is just a quick note to say thank you for all your support this term. We hope you enjoy the last week of term two and the upcoming term break to reconnect and enjoy time together. Matariki is a time to reflect on what has been and celebrate what can be. As I said on Friday morning at our dawn service, I have a Matariki challenge for us all. Amongst the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, I challenge us to be generous in our smiles, patient in our understanding of one another and take that extra step to connect with the familiar face as we pass in the playground, at the crossing or down at the shops. Our community is a reflection of us, our school is a reflection of our community.
He aroha whakato He aroha puta mai If kindness is sown, then kindness you shall receive.

Student Success Story
Well done to Emma Jennings (5Purple) who has excelled in a recent Gymnastics competition 🙂
‘Emma has a really full schedule with Hockey, Touch Rugby and Dancing (Lyrical and Jazz). She has been nagging us for some time to start Gymnastics. We eventually agreed. She started in term 1 and immediately committed 150%.
She ended up being moved to Extension 1 group after term 1. Every spare minute is spent kart wheeling or doing aerials or some sort of floor routine. She is now almost finished her second term and competed in the North Harbour Gymnastics Club Champs annual comp.
We thought it may be a little early for her to try and compete and were concerned that it may knock her confidence. She insisted. How wrong were we……
Emma placed First in Vault with a 9.8 score and 2nd on Bars with 9.4, a 9.4 on Beam, an 8.9 on Floor and ended 1st Overall in the Girls Extension 1 group comprising of 47 Gymnasts.’

Sibling Photographs will only be taken if you have completed the Google Form request in the last couple of Newsletters. Unfortunately this is now closed and we are unable to take any late requests.

Concentration faces were on at the Primary Schools Chess Tournament!
Well done to the 24 students in our Campbells Bay Chess Team who participated in the Primary Schools Chess Tournament at Wairau Intermediate School on Monday 28 June.
With over 10 schools and 31 teams, it was a proud achievement to have 6 chess teams representing CBS, our largest number of chess teams entered in Campbells Bay history!
It was wonderful to see so many of our students representing Campbells Bay School, displaying our school values of respect, kindness and resilience whilst competing against other schools. Your respect and kindness towards other players, adults and the Chess Arbiters was noticed and complimented on during the day.
Awesome work team!
