Our Message – Our Director

Kia ora International whanau,

It has been a great couple of weeks at CBS celebrating our learning through mahi tahi (partnerships and working together) and whanaungatanga (relationships).  This was especially celebrated during our kiwi cultural experience in week 7.
Rangitoto College students visited CBS from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm collaboratively learning with students and whanau.  The workshops included:

  • Creating a pepeha
  • Fun te reo Maori games
  • Waiata / Haka
  • Understanding our local community

During lunchtime, we shared stories and discussed the work students had been exploring, with parents and College students developing tuakana teina.  The day was really successful, complete with a haka/ waiata performance from our students.

Thank you to everyone involved.

We look forward to the next Kiwi Experience in Term 3.

Matariki Dawn Service – Friday 2 July

Matariki is all about celebration and spending time with family. The coming of Matariki also symbolises the harvest festival where the Maori feasted on the crops they had prepared. This is an important date because it is the time to restart the Maori calendar, and therefore, we would like you to join us on this special occasion.

As a polite reminder, please complete the mid-year international parent feedback survey by clicking on this Google Form link.  Your responses will help us to improve our programme and service.

Thank you for all your support and Aroha Nui

Our  Message – Our ESOL Lead Teacher

Kia ora everyone,

It was wonderful seeing the students engage in the cultural experiences led by Rangitoto College students recently – I know a lot was gained and connections to last year’s Marae visit were made by many of the students.  It was also great to see parents participating and enjoying the sessions with the students.

The ESOL team love working with your children and look forward to sharing experiences such as these in the future :0)
