Our Message – Our Director
Kia ora CBS Whanau,
It is now week five, and already we have experienced so many highlights this term. Our international students have completed their next step interviews and are working hard to achieve their goals this term. To build on their rich learning experience, we have organised several special events at Campbells Bay and our community to support our international families to connect. These events include:
CBS School Disco – Thursday 10 June
School Hall
Year 0-3 – 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Year 4-6 – 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Jammies in June – Friday 11 June
This fundraising challenge is to build awareness and raise funds to help keep our most vulnerable children warm and healthy through the cold winter months. Students are encouraged to wear PJ’s to school as part of our mufti day.
Kiwi Cultural Experience – Wednesday 16 June
Rangitoto College students will be visiting CBS from 11:00am to 2:30pm on Wednesday 16 June. Collaboratively, they will teach four workshops to include:
- Creating a pepeha
- Fun games to embrace whanaungatanga
- Waiata/ Haka
- Understanding our local community
At 12:30 – 2:30pm – you are invited to a shared lunch to discuss the work students have been exploring, celebrating together through this wonderful kiwi experience.
Matariki Dawn Service – Friday 2 July
Matariki is all about celebration and spending time with family. The coming of Matariki also symbolises the harvest festival where the Maori feasted on the crops they had prepared. This is an important date because it is the time to restart the Maori calendar, and therefore, we would like you to join us on this special occasion.
Chinese Cultural Night – Wednesday 7 July
Year 5-6 students are invited to attend the rehearsal of the Chinese Cultural Night on Wednesday 7 July – Week 10 – 3:00pm – 8:00pm (you do not need to come for the whole time), in the Rangitoto College Auditorium. As this is the technical rehearsal, there will be some stopping and starting.
As a polite reminder, all school events can be accessed in our parent-community calendar on our school website.
Thank you for all your support and Aroha Nui
