To the following students who have started at Campbells Bay School
Luciana Boucher, Hiram Kwon
Kia ora koutou katoa,
I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and managed to get some quality family time in. My family travelled to the mighty Waikato to visit relatives and reconnect. We were lucky with good weather and managed to get some final season swims in. Too many hot cross buns were shared but we had plenty of walks to keep the balance right!
A reminder this will be the final week for completing the CBS Community Survey. We have had 97 responses and our goal is to capture 200. Thank you to those families who have completed the survey already. Your voice is critical to the decisions we make. Click here to complete the 2021 survey.
The first informal meet and greet with the Friends of the Parents (FOPs) group was held this morning. Keen parents who want to get involved in finding ways to help families connect and support each other throughout the year. A number of great ideas were discussed and we are excited for what we will be able to offer going forward.
Our first event will be held in the staffroom on Thursday 13 May at 8.30am. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided. If you are new to Campbells Bay School, or an existing parent wanting to connect with others, you are invited to join us. We will facilitate a few ways for you to connect, but overall we see this an informal social occasion just for you.

Well done to Chloe Kwon from 5Blue who is a chorister with the Auckland Girls Choir that will be featured in Bach Musica NZ’s concert at the Auckland Town Hall.
Chloe is one of 40 girls selected from 29 schools to enter a comprehensive and structured music and choral training program.
Watch Chloe practice.
Freddie Walker 5Purple, has been involved in putting up signage over the weekend to help educate users of Centennial Park. The waterways have endangered Kokopu in them and most people don’t know this. Dogs entering the stream risk damaging their habitat.
Freddie and his family approached a local signage company Benefitz and they kindly offered to do the signs at no cost . The kids are pretty regular users of the forest and we feel so lucky to have it in our neighbourhood!
Book Reviews with Suzy Cato
Campbells Bay Librarians had an amazing opportunity to write and record book reviews for Suzy Cato’s TV Channel.
The Following librarians recorded their book reviews last week – TreeHut TV: Joyce Dong, Ben Zhang, Ryan Zhang, Emily Ren, Yu Ying Xu, Eva O’Grady.
They did an AWESOME job and Suzy and Steve (Suzy’s husband) were really impressed with them. Steve is now very busy editing the videos ready to put up on the TV channel so keep an eye out for them.

The bus will depart bus stop number (3249 )opposite 92 Aberdeen Road at 3.05pm and will be scheduled to arrive at 1 Inga Rd bus stop number (3350) at 3.30pm. School Route 051 – Campbells Bay Primary To Milford (Afternoons)
The 042 (which currently runs from your school to Milford) will have a shorter route than at present. The route will end at bus stop number 3222 at 262 Forrest Hill Road. The best gift you can give to your child/children is to allow them to free play in natural settings these Spring School Holidays with CK!
The Conscious Kids Social Enterprise is inviting your children to a 100% play-in-nature school holiday programme.
Nature play free has proven physical, emotional and social health benefits. Our supervised programme allows kids to lead their own activities – mudslides, tree climbing, puddle splashing, hammock and hut building etc. Apart from the obvious safety restrictions and respect framework, there are few instructions for kids. Our number 1 ‘rule’ is to have fun! Staff are present for supervision and support, but children follow their innate ‘readiness meter’ to make their own decisions before getting involved in any new situation. Such child-led play enhances creativity, problem-solving, communication (including listening!), collaboration and many other 21st century skills.
The programme will during the two weeks of the Holidays (20th April – 22th April and 27th April – 29th April), at a cost of $70/child per day.
Daily programmes run from 9 am to 3 pm and are designed for children aged 5 – 12 yrs old. For booking and more information, please visit http://www.consciouskids.co.nz
