To the following students who have started at Campbells Bay School

Message from the Principal
It is hard to comprehend the turn of events from the first week of school compared to the second. Overall, I applaud everyone for their quick response and adaptation to a lockdown and thank the senior leadership and office team for their fulsome support to ensure that we were able to execute new procedures and programmes in a short period of time.
We await news today from the Prime Minister with our fingers crossed for Alert Level One. Should this be the case it would mean we are back to our usual practices with lots of hygiene measures in place. The biggest change for you would be that you are able to enter the school grounds at pick up and drop off without sanitizing your hands, and you can enter classrooms and cloak bays. Please continue to use the QR codes whenever you enter the school grounds and sign in at the school office if you are intending to stay during school hours.
We are always looking to make things easier for you, particularly when managing the amount of information coming home. We have created a new page on our website which will hold all notices pertaining to each year group. If you misplace a trip information notice, you will be able to access it again on the website in no time at all. You can find “Team Notices” under the tab “What’s On.” A special mention to the Year 5 Camp notices all available on this page now.
This year we would like to explore a new concept called “Friends of the Parents”. This is a group of parent volunteers designed to be the caretakers of our parent community. We see this as an evolving group dependent on who would like to be involved and how but initially some of the activities of this group would be:
- To host new parent events termly, for networking and connecting.
- To support parents if and when there are times in need. Such as a meal roster or a school drop off roster.
- To see if there are any needs within the community and respond as they see fit. Such as partnering up a new family to the school with an established family to help them settle in.
We do not see this role as being overly strenuous or taking too much time. It really depends on the group that comes together. Some parents may wish to be part of the email list and put their hand up for things if and when they can, other parents may wish to take on the organisation role and liaise between the school and the group.
This is not a fundraising group, or a whole community event organisation group. It really is as the title lends itself to – a group just for our parents, to support and create stronger connections with each other.
If you are interested in this group please send an email to our Community Engagement Leader – [email protected] by Monday 8 March. Those who have registered their interest in the group will form part of an email list and more information will follow.
From Monday 22 March to Friday 26 March (week 7), CBS will be celebrating for the first time what we would like to call – Harmony Week. The purpose of Harmony Week is to celebrate our diversity and provide a space to share our uniqueness with each other. Knowing that our differences are what makes CBS a special place to be, and that we all have something special to contribute and we all belong.
We have lots of activities planned within classes and on the Friday (week 7) we will be ending the week with a class shared lunch and a mufti day. Students will be encouraged to wear items that represent them or their culture or even to wear the colour orange to signify – harmony.
We would love members of the community to be involved to help make this week as inclusive as possible and to share knowledge and traditions through fun activities or presentations to our students. Some ideas could be:
– teaching or showing students how to make something from your culture during a lunchtime or
– getting in touch with your child’s class teacher and coming in to share something special from your culture,
– if you are part of a cultural group who does performances, coming into school and performing to the students,
– or anything else you have done before or would like to try, our ears are open.
If you would like to be a part of this celebration, please get in contact with Kirsty Adair Community Engagement Leader on [email protected]

In the meantime if you have any uniform that you would like to sell please bring it to the school office by Friday 26 February with the completed form Selling Uniform Form

A Great Way To Finish the 2020 Season
Our year 3 and 4 CBS Strikeforce team, which plays at the Junior Breakers competition, had a great end to their 2020 season. The team finished second in the B Grade. This was an amazing achievement, especially after moving up a grade from the previous semester. This is what their coach said about them “I am hugely proud of each team player for their amazing effort and their massive development throughout the season. They worked hard and never gave up the fight.” Congratulations to Annabel Gualberto, Austin Sun, Doris Meng, Gerayn Chow, Julian Wang, Oscar Dunn, Bruce Chen and Michael Jnr Yang.
