A Big Week at CBS
Three weeks into the term and another big week at school. The senior school production of The Jungle Book is well into rehearsal with a multitude of people working on the many tasks involved in bringing such an event together. This includes the mammoth task for making costumes for everybody on stage, as well as the props and backdrop being created. The acting/singing/dance components of this production are epic and have been the subject of expert teaching with the expectation it will all come together over two nights (8 & 9 September) of performances at the Bruce Mason Centre. Tickets go on general sale on 17 August. Full details of how to purchase tickets will be communicated with you on Friday.
There was great sporting success during the week with our senior girls’ and boys’ miniball teams winning the Super Cluster tournament (involving schools from Campbells Bay to Browns Bay). For some late breaking news from this morning, CBS has just won the Super Cluster Cross Country for the fourth year in a row. Winning the cross country is all about each team member placing the best they possibly can, working together to achieve the lowest possible overall score.
To top off a busy and productive week, we had over 800 people attend the Matariki event on Friday morning that culminated in breakfast for one and all. Thank you to everybody who was involved in making Matariki the success it was. In particular, I thank Erica Mackie (teacher, Room 1) who led the event, supported by a cast of so many volunteers. The two kapa haka groups did a magnificent job and the weather also placed a part with forecast rain staying away.
