frequently asked library questions
Q. How many books can children take out of the CBS library?
A. Two at a time, they can come to the library every day to change them.
Q. Can the children only come to the library with their teacher?
A. The children are welcome to come on their own (or with their family) before school (from 8:30) at morning tea time (10:40 – 11:00) at lunchtime (12:45 – 1:20) or after school everyday (until 3:15).
Q. Why do the children have to have a book bag?
A. To help protect our books – particularly from leaking drink bottles, yoghurt and wet swim suits. Many of our books cost over $30 and cannot be replaced as they are quickly out of print in NZ, so please help by ensuring they have a good, clean book bag.
Q. Where do you get book bags from?
A. The office or the library for $6.50, or you can make one or use a good strong plastic bag. Not a supermarket bag, they are too thin. Please make sure the bag is large enough, the little bags sold at some retail outlets are often too small for our large books and are a waste of your money.
Q. What happens if my child loses or damages a book?
A. Our fee for lost or damaged books is $15.00. If a book is lost, please check the classroom library corner, they are often hiding there – also check the library, sometimes the books are back safe and sound. (You can ring the library on 410 7444 or call in to check).
