2011 Mayoral visit: 3rd March

Auckland ‘Super City’ Mayor, Len Brown, visited Campbells Bay School today.

Len attended the full school assembly where he presented the school with the first ever Travelwise Gold Award. This award recognises the work being done by the school community to reduce the amount of vehicles coming to and from the school with children. The school organises five ‘walking school buses’ while the morning and afternoon 042 buses are well patronised. Scooters and bikes also feature highly in the transport stakes.

While at the school the mayor congratulated winners of the Principal Awards as he handed out these awards. He also took the opportunity to be photographed with some of the children who are part of the Travelwise programme (above).

Mayor Len was a huge hit with the full school assembly audience and we hope he will visit us again.
