2008 CBS Olympics Day: 23rd September

For the CBS Olympic Day Room 13 researched about the International Olympic Committee to determine what the responsibilities of such a community were. They were then divided into groups and given a responsibility to learn about to inform them in the running of our very own CBS Olympics. These responsibilities were organisation, judging events, selection of an anthem and mascot, events selection and writing speeches. Very quickly, Room 13 learned how difficult it is to plan, organise and run such a difficult event.

On Tuesday the 23rd of September, 2008 the day Room 13 had been planning for weeks arrived. It went as smoothly and calmly as we had hoped. The events that took place were Long Jump, Sprints, The Quiz, Sack Races, Chess and Cards. The events were selected based on the meaning of the Olympics: Inclusiveness and Enjoyment. Room 13 presented gold, silver, and bronze medals to each year group and event. Since the day Room 13 has had nothing but positive feedback on what a great job they did. The whole of CBS can’t wait for the next Olympic Day.
