2008 associate principal Jenny Hunter farewell: 11th April

Current and former members of the board and staff gathered on Friday to formally farewell Jenny Hunter who will be retiring at the end of this term. Jenny trained at Christchurch College of Education and taught in Otago, Canterbury, Marlborough, Wellington and Wanganui before moving to Auckland in 1987. Prior to her appointment as assistant principal at Campbells Bay School in mid 1991 Jenny was a senior teacher at Takapuna School. Her teaching career spanned 1968 – 2008.

Jenny has had a wide variety of roles at Campbells Bay. She had led teams across a number of levels, most recently Year 6 in 2007 and in her career she has taught at every level in the primary school. Jenny has also had numerous curriculum leadership roles with a passion for mathematics being amply demonstrated during her time at CBS. Editing the school magazine has been a major responsibility as well as her leadership of the up-keep of our community forest. Jenny’s lively nature has ensured that there has ‘never been a dull moment’ when she is around. The staffroom will be a quieter place without her!

Jenny plans to work on their block of land with husband Ross. In fact, I suspect she has great plans for Ross! They also intend to travel and I have no doubt that we will be receiving post cards from various exotic locations in the coming years. We thank Jenny for her contribution to education in general and to Campbells Bay School in particular and we extend to Jenny and Ross our very best wishes for the productive years ahead.
